Not sure about how long but if you read post of the posts in the DJ forum, VX seems to be the much prefferred program even with the 25% bonus as Velocity's partner international rates are ridiculous.

But if you want to fly 100% domestically then its a different POV.

I didn't even know you could transfer from MR to Vx... Must check it out..

Thanks - I had not checked out the partner rates on DJ. The idea is to get the best rate for a flight LHR-SYD-LHR next Christmas for my parents. VX have some availability but if it takes 5 days to transfer then that availability might go...

I have only transferred MR points on one occasion, but they only took about 48 hours to show up. I was in the same position, had seen flight availability and then needed to transfer the points pretty quickly to be able to book.

You cannot transfer Amex Australia points to VX - Virgin America. I think simongr is actually referring to VS - Virgin Atlantic.

That was the assumption I was working on, perhaps I should have clarified with simongr. The transfer of points I was referring to was to VS.

MR to SQ was quick last time i did it, less than 24hrs in this case.

If it is VS you're referring to, then I wouldn't worry about availability, as they have plenty of seats on the SYD-LHR route, in all classes.

Mea cupla - it is indeed VS and not VX.

@swan_tim The availability I saw was somewhat limited around late nov and late dec this year when I checked as they had to move the dates slightly and only had one day available (1 Jan) on the return trip.

I will check availability this morning and if it is still there I will punt the points across
