here's a tip

I mentioned to CBA/Woolworths Ezybanking, that their Mastercard was unattractive dcue to the launch of the ANZ QFF VISA co-branded card, and that i wanted to cancel the Mastercard. They offered me 1500 QF points to stay on board. 1500 QF points at $39 is cheaper than buying 1500 points from QF, but still pricey!

Problem was that I transferred 5500 points to QFF last week, and need to accumulate 3500 before i can transfer again.

Anyone pulled similar expolits?

Here try some of these links, not necessarily just ANZ but cancellation stories just the same. With some you may have to read the whole thread for all the juicy details.

If this does not satisfy your taste then you can try an AFF search (between FAQ and memberlist at top of page) and see what you can find.

Good luck.

Interesting read!

I had a similar experience with Amex...

Was at the airport a couple of years ago (how unusual) and there was the perenial Amex Blue stand. I was curious (not often you see a transparent credit card) so asked for some info/brochures - the guy said that he did not have any information, but told me that basically I fill out the form, they mail me the card and all the details, and if I'm not interested, I just don't activate the card.

So I think, fine, and sign up. The card arrives, doesn't offer much at all! So I never activate it.

12 months later I receive a statement charging me the annual fee. Now I'm fuming. Call up Amex, get Bangladesh, tell them that this is BS because I never even activated the card and it's a really scummy thing to do. They then tell me that it's ok, I can keep the card and they will wave the fee for life. Me (now much calmer) thank them, but explain that there is no point because the card does not offer me what I want so I won't end up using it anyway. They come back and say 'what if we reduce the interest rate to 11.99% for life'.

Now I'm thinking, hmm I can always do with a back up card for those big purchasers (Citibank interest rate is just way too high!), so I kept it and it's come in quite handy with the low interest rate.
