Whilst the free coffee machine offer has expired (15th September 2008), the no annual fee card offer seems to still apply, maybe if you call Amex and ask nicely they may even give you the free coffee machine
Through an association I'm a member of, I seem to get AMEX offers almost every fortnight, same deal, Gold card, no annual fee, membership of rewards, and can choose where to send the 1:$1 points. And yes same Delonghi coffee machine too. Previously it was a roller suitcase (which was very very poor quality).
I've now decided that as long as theres no annual fee, I'm going to apply for each credit Card Amex throws at me...until they start rining alarm bells. I'm upto three already.
Has anyone received the freebie coffee machine yet?
Is it good? What model is that?
AMEX is too busy sorting out the points promotion problems.

I am not impressed. I applied for one of these cards 10 days ago. Ringing to get the A/F wiped to zero, or will cancel. (Looking at an Earth Amex Platinum anyway).
It is a Beville espresso machine. Basic, simple, compact appliance. Has a frother on the side. Not bad for a free machine i would guess worth around $29-49
Breville? I expect a Delonghi machine (well that is what is offered) ..... If they give me a Breville one I will call them ....
