In 2007, I missed the boat about the "10 points per dollar" buying Wish cards at D!ck Smith Electronics by not reading the forum. I was disappointed. I would have been able to make about 50000 points on that.
There will be more promotions (although possibly none ever as good as this promotion) and we'll be talking about it all over again on here - just make sure you keep reading AFF!

Reason: AFF thinks that DSE's full name is a swear word!

Yes the picking up of Nokia N95 phones for only 10K points in Dec was pretty handy too. All due to reading AFF.
Argue, thru the BFSO, that the offer says 'enrol by 31 December' and 'get bonii from 1 September': ie with retrospective effect. After all, Amex wrote to some here, in December, that they 'reinstated the offer from 1st October" - backdated bonii is legal. What have you got to lose?
I am new to this site, but have been following this thread since it's creation.
I have receievd about 1/3 of the points owed to me under the 5/5 promotion and am reserving contacting the financial ombudsman until it's clear if I have got my full entitlement - or not
Does anyone know the process if the ombudsman contacts Amex and they contact you ruling against your claim? What happens then? Is it case closed?
Ijust had my first correspondence from the FSO yesterday. They have written to Amex asking them to resolve the issue (I can only assume that this means "pay the points" otherwise they would have ruled againstme at this point - given it is a known issue to them) by Feb 2.
If it is not resolved by Amex by Feb 2 I have been asked by the FSO to provide authority for them to pursue this further.
If the FSO rule against me I am unsure what my next course of action will be...
Also, has anyone considered approaching Amex to obtain any documents they may have on you under the Freedom of Information Act, or am I barking up the wrong tree.
It seems some members have certain legal experience with these matters

The FSO's brochure sets out the process.
1. You write to FOS at GPO Box 3 Melbourne 3001. Set out facts, issues and contentions. Set out facts chronologically. Specify representations. Specify that the csr said this or that. Set out all damages, eg 'in reliance on this promo I paid for holiday accom in Los Angeles'. Ask for a determination that you are on 5/5, falsely suspended, entitled to every point from 1 Sept. If you missed out on the bonuses to enter the Win Flights promo, add that coz another body is looking into things and there might be compo;
2. FOS sends your letter to Amex. Amex has 30 days to contact you and resolve things.
3. Make a deal - get it in writing by fax: the amex mail room is taking up to 10 days to get letters to your door.
4. If Amex doesn't make a deal, ask FOS to determine the dispute. Remember, the onus is on Amex to prove its allegations. Remember too - FOS has lots of intel from lots of other complaints and Amex knows .
Then:
5. FOS agrees with you 100% and Amex is bound. Amex can't appeal, reneg or anything.
6. FOS says it agrees with you 50% or whatever. Amex is bound, but you can refuse and sue in VCAT.
