An AA itinerary in F (not YUP) PDX-SFO via LAX I have in July has had a schedule change so that I now leave PDX at 6.55am rather than 11.20am. Transit (and terminal change time in LAX) remains ok at 2hr 20min. The 6.55am departure does not really suit and there are practically no other options in F that day. Most PDX-LAX AK flights are now Y only. Am I unreasonable to ask for a later departure for flights via DFW rather than LAX? The fact that it gives rise to more SCs is purely coincidental. I'm seeking advice before I phone AA. Many thanks. And if there is operator flexibility here am I better speaking to AA US rather htan Sydney?

Similiar thing happened to me but involving JFK-ORD-MSP in august.I am on a QF issued Circle pacific and wife on an Aadvantage award. This time they cancelled earlier flight and only through flight was late in afternoon so very late into MSP and we were planning to drive to Rochester.
Rang the aussie number and fellow was very helpful and said he had to ring his supervisor-presumably in US and would ring back which he didd in ~40 minutes with us on an earlier plane out of EWR(yes not quite the same as your problem as EWR is considered a NYC airport but F was not available on the earlier JFK flights). So I would probably take the chance on ringing Brissy.

I think it's not unreasonable for them to move you to a mutually agreeable flight. Without discussion with you, they're going to choose the one that suits them most (beit by schedling, price, other). Your proposed resolution sounds perfectly reasonable to me.

Unfortunately there's no other way but to call.

I'd start with calling AUS and if no luck there, US call centre it is.

Agreed. When similar has happened to me I had a great deal of luck calling in (to the US) and asking nicely. Research your options first though - find out what flights have seats open that you'd be prepared to take.

Thanks all. I meant AA Brisbane of course not Sydney. I'll phone Monday and report how I get on.

Much the same reason the QF counter in Perth couldn't see the AA codeshare to ticket on a xONEx......

Alas from my viewpoint the QF call centre still has then accent

On-line booking works ok though ? or is the AA codeshare only for through connections like lots of them are now days ?

Yes, you can get some accents from the QF call center, either of the familiar type (Aussie) or otherwise, but some accents i just think sound different and sexy.

The CSM last night was very French on QF6.

I got one in BNE with a true ocker accent ("g'day mate"). After first suggesting a later direct PDX-SFO AK codeshare in Why (10SCs), he willingly agreed to my suggestion of PDX-DFW-SFO (240SCs). So thanks for the advice and hope this assists someone else in the future.

I am now challenging for the cheapest SCs ever at USD1.00/AUD1.38 each
