    Hi all,

New member here, so apologies if I'm a little slow picking things up. Reading through these threads it seems you guys use a lot abbreviations I'm not aware of yet.

I'm heading overseas at the end of the year for a three week holiday, and wanted some advice on the lounges I can use while away. I know the Sydney/Birs/Melb lounges pretty well (my father's a Chairman's Lounge member so I've been fortunate to use the local ones a fair bit), but I know nothing about o/s lounges.

    Itinerary is Syd-Tokyo (Qantas)
    Tokyo-Zurich (Swiss Air)
    Zurich-Geneva (Swiss Air)
    Geneva-London (BA) [economy]
    London-Zurich (Swiss Air)
    Zurich-New York (Swiss Air)
    New York (JFK)- Syd (Qantas)

All legs except the Geneva-London flight are business class.

I have five hours on the ground in Narita and a couple of hours in Zurich before both the Geneva and JFK flights.

What lounges do I have access to in Tokyo, Zurich, London and New York? And are they any good? I'm only a bronze Qantas member (though I'll be Silver by the time I get back!) so I've no other privileges beyond those that paying for business class allows.

One other thing (off-topic, sorry) - what does WP stand for? Some sort of membership level with an airline? I've seen it used in other threads here.

    Many thanks for your help.

WP is W@nker Platinum, referring to platinum tier in Qantas frequent flyer. Following that is SG for Scum Gold, PS for Plebian Silver and NB for Nuthin' Bronze.

In New York you'll have access to the British Airways Terraces lounge I believe (but someone might correct me). I don't know the exact location but I'm sure there'll be a sign.

I don't know about the others, surely Swiss Air has a lounge in some ports?

WP = Wan_er Platinum (ie platinum level QFF).

With J (=business) flights, I would think there'd be J lounge access for all flights thus except your Geneva-London. Usually the checkin agents will direct you.

It almost looks like you have designed the trip to not be able to use decent lounges as you look to be flying a number times into the home port of the carrier rather than out of it

Ah I see. Thanks for explaining WP.

Yes, I'm sure I'll be able to use a lounge somewhere at Zurich, but as far as I can tell they don't have a lounge at Narita.

I guess the BA lounge at JFK would be pretty good won't it? Does anyone know if it has showers?

simongr - Perhaps that's why this didn't cost me near as much as I was expecting! Flight Centre got me a great deal for these flights, so I guess there were going to be some minor downsides later on.

If you're flying out of NRT Terminal 1 on Swiss airlines in business class, you are entitled to use the very comfortable ANA lounge at Satellite 5.
