QP access conditions in group arrangement

Hello all,

We are travelling in a group of seven towards the end of Jan, and two of us are QP members, and we have two guest cards (reached the just above entry level of silver late last year and received two separate invitations in the mail). Thus from my calcs, six people are eligible to enter the QP, with one person missing out.

From other experiences, would the staff at the QP lounge (Syd International) be cool with this, or are they always very strict on the matters.

Many thanks in advance

localknowledge,

From my limited experience in this I would find the number of the SYD Int QP and ring them in advance. I have done this before and got one extra guest into the 'F' lounge. The response was along the lines of 'Thanks for asking, of course we would not break up a family group'. When we arrived they had our details and happily let us in.

Not sure if I was lucky OR it is a standard practise.

It is outside the normal rules however it never hurts to ask. The worst outcome is a 'NO' answer.

how old or should i ask how young is the youngest traveller? if they are a child then it's a safe bet that all 7 travellers will be allowed into the QP....

Re: QP access conditions in group arrangement

The one constraint might be the refurb that is going on at the moment so the QP is split into QF and non-QF access in two areas - this might put in a capacity constraint on the QP generally.

Thanks for the good news Bill; anyone got their number, could be useful in a few weeks.

Don't have it on me, but it is listed on the QF website, on the Qantas Club - Lounges page.

Re: QP access conditions in group arrangement

Hey everyone,

In my experience as a QP member and regular all the factors stated below can play a role.
However in my experience it most often comes down to just how full the club is, what time your flying and also what level FF you are, silver will help your chances - anything less (trying hard not to sound elitist) dont bother.

If your flight is during the day or 'off peak' ie. when the club is at its quietest then it sounds like a safe bet. Also being an actual QP member and not just a J ticket holder they tend to be more lenient. While I dont have alot of experience with the Syd Int. QP the amount of times Ive walked into a QP with 3 or 4 guests (if they see its family THAT REALLY HELPS) and just been waved in your chances are good.
It would pay to make a quick call ahead though. Enjoy it

Which brings me to something that infuriated me in both PER and BNE last week.

Kids running around the QP, with NO shoes on, causing general noise. Parents nowhere to be found.

One kid was also climbing all over the coffee machine. Wouldn't listen when I asked him nicely to get down, I ended up having to go and get a member of staff.

Edit: and I'm only 23.. imagine what the old folk would have been thinking
