frankfurt airport lounges

Hi everyone
Is anyone able to tell me if there is a lounge at frankfurt airport that you can access on a pay per visit arrangement. We have a 10 hour stopover and qantas have advised us that our qantas invitation passes will probably not be excepted as it is a Cathay Lounge (even though we are flying Qantas).

Thanks
Nat

and even if the lounge did accept the passes, it is only open for QF passengers about 3 hours before scheduled departure, so not going to help for a 10 hour layover.

Why not leave the airport and have a look around down-town Frankfurt. Its not a bad city to walk around and there are plenty of good restaurants. On weekends the riverside markets can be interesting.

Priority Pass Non-Members Lounge Details lists Sky Club Lounge in Terminal 2 (I think CX departs from that terminal), further investigation Frankfurt (FRA) Independent Sky Club Lounge - LoungeGuide.net indicates you might be able to purchase single entry at the door.

Re: frankfurt airport lounges

There aren't any lounges that I can think of that'll be of any use to you. There are a couple of options for day lets for hotels that'll at least give you a place to crash.

The Sheraton at the FRA does day lets, but isn't cheap. The other options are the NH Hotel just off site, but with a free shuttle, Hotel reservations, find and book hotels NH: Madrid, Barcelona, Amsterdam…, or the InterCity Hotel, which also has a free shuttle, and is the cheapest option. InterCityHotel Frankfurt Airport. It's pretty basic, but clean and convenient.

If you do book at the Sheraton, book on the club level so you can have access to the lounge, the food is very good and the selection of drinks is also pretty good. If you book at the cheaper options, and if budget is an issue, there's a little supermarket in terminal One, I think on Level 1 at the far right of the terminal as you look airside.

I spend far too much time hanging out at FRA!

Re: frankfurt airport lounges

We were in Frankfurt on Boxing Day. If you land at Terminal 2 it hosts a number of lounges. CX lounge is on the right after you come up the escalators from the gates. If you proceed left, a liitle way down on the right there is a JAL lounge (which seems to only open just before flights) and just past that, in the corner, is a Delta Lounge which seems to be affiliated with just about everyone. We were flying LAN to Santiago and were able to use this lounge. You may be able to get in here with Priority Pass or Amex Platinum etc. If you are a Qantas Club member, there is a BA lounge downstairs (just follow the signs) that is reasonably comfortable (although the Delta is much better). If you're bored, catch the monorail over to Terminal 1 - there are myriads of shops over there and there is a ingenious system for keeping you airside on the train and not having to go through security again. The train opens one side for transit passenegers and the other for people entering the terminal from outside. Exits similarly allow you to enter the Terminal 1 and 2 buildings without security. Great system.

G'day mww99, welcome to AFF.

Thanks for the information, especially about the train.
