DXB lounge

Hi there all

We are flying on QFF award flights dxb-hkg , hkg-mel in March. The dxb-hkg sector is on Cathay and is at the hellish time of 1.25 am. Husband and myself are both QP members - I'm QP Bronze and he is QP Silver, we will also have our 2 1/2 year old with us.

From my research I gather we are not eligible to use the lounge in Dubai as we are flying Cathay? Is that right? Does it make any difference that its not a Cathay lounge, I think its actually a BA one? I've already asked QF about passes as they stuffed up this booking and actually had us booked on a non-existent flight which luckily I picked up but they said they could not/would not help.

The lounge access is pretty important to us given the time of the flight departure. We need somewhere where the little one can kip on a couch! If you all think a free lounge is a no go I gather there are some pay per use lounges at DXB. Can anyone advise which is the best one amenity wise?

Thanks

The only way to get lounge access is if you have OneWorld Sapphire or Emerald status. Qantas Club membership only provides access to QF, BA and AA lounge when departing on a QF, BA or AA flight respectively. Departure on a CX flight does not quality for access to a QF, BA or AA lounge.

Do you have a Diner's Club card? If so, have a look at this...

Re: DXB lounge

Thanks for the pointer but unfortunately no Diners Club card. As far as I can tell there are at least 2 lounges that you can pay to use, just wondering if anyone here has used them and can comment?

As this is more of an international issue, I suggest you either do a search or post your question over on FT in the The Middle East Forum. There is some good DXB related stuff there.
