Actually, with the recent GC titans sale ($20 nett flights) they were limiting access. An an initial web page had been implented that would only let you go further if "sufficient" system resource was available.
In this case, the site did not so much as crash; it was more of a case of being extremely slow once you got in.
Once in I was able to check availabilities for several days, although slow. I had to refresh quite times to get my $40 return booking to HBA in August.
